KATELYN MARIE SHERRARD
October 5, 1998 - April 8, 2008
Katelyn was diagnosed with a DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma) on April 7, 2006
at the age of 7 ½ years old. She was a fun loving and good spirited child who had a lot
of faith in God. She truly loved life and lived life to the fullest each day, and truly saw
the good in everyone and everything. She was the Hostess with the Mostest when all
the neighborhood kids would come over, she was the one who would be the friend to
the one who had no friends, she was the one who had the most thought of and creative
gifts, and she would stand by her family and her brother (her little Rascal) even
though she wanted to sell him on EBAY for $20. She loved collecting lipsticks, her
yorkie “Button”, horses, the colors pink and purple, parties, hunks, Jesse McCartney,
chocolate, ketchup, Burger King, Ruby Tuesday’s, Arby’s, Dairy Queen, and she also
loved shopping at Claire’s and Bath & Body Works. She had so much courage and
strength through the entire fight to beat one of the worst tumors possible. She always
said “Take life as it comes and trust in God”. This tumor took so much from her-her
inability to walk, talk, see, hear, and eat but she never let it get her down. The
hardest part to deal with is that there is no cure for this tumor. It is so sad because
when your child is sick they know you take them to the doctor and the doctor makes
them better. With this tumor-you can do treatments, radiation, medicines, and go to
may different doctors to get different opinions and the outcome is still the same-
THERE IS NO CURE. She earned her wings at the age of 9 ½ years old and is now free
from all that this tumor took from her. She taught so many people about life and
love….she touched a lot of lives.
